Dairy production generates substantial amounts of wastewater and waste by-products with high organic content, which must be treated before discharge. Key contributors to this wastewater include cheese whey, lactose, and cleaning waters, all of which are rich in organic matter.
These concentrated streams are ideal substrates for our advanced treatment processes, such as the UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) and ECSB (External Circulation Sludge Bed). These systems not only deliver high purification efficiency but also produce significant amounts of biogas, all while operating with minimal energy consumption.
Additionally, fats and solids removed during the pre-treatment stage can be combined with expired dairy products returned to the facility. This mixture can then be processed in a SWD (Solid Waste Digester), where it is stabilized and converted into biogas.
