Biogas Flare – Efficient and reliable excess biogas management
Biogas flares are essential safety devices in biogas plants, especially when the biogas cannot be used immediately for energy production. They burn off the excess biogas, preventing the gas from accumulating and causing dangerous pressure in the system.
The flare ensures that the gas is safely released into the atmosphere in the form of carbon dioxide and water vapor, reducing the risk of hazardous conditions. This process helps manage the fluctuating nature of biogas production, especially during periods of maintenance or low demand for energy.
Biogas flares come in different capacities, typically ranging from 50 to 3000 cubic meters per hour (m³/hr), depending on the facility’s biogas production levels.
AquaThane can offer:
1. Open Flare system:
- simple design with visible flame.
- lower combustion efficiency (~50-70%).
- used for lower biogas flow rates or temporary setups.
2. Closed Flare system:
- have an enclosed combustion chamber, reducing visible flame and noise.
- higher combustion efficiency (~99%) with better control over emissions.
- suitable for continuous or large-scale operations.
